Large Abstract Greek Jugs £229

This collection of new work was inspired by a visit i'd had to the British Museum just before the lockdown.
​In the isolation time I was able to develop my ideas without our normal day distractions. I was drawn to the classical beauty of Roman and Greek pottery, its feminine curved shapes and outlines. I have tried to replicate these themes for this collection. I've also added abstract painted designs using slips and underglazes colours, transfers for detail, gold luster for a precious and more contemporary feel.​

All my work is made using slab building techniques. I have always preferred handbuilding, even though it can be very time consuming, you are not restricted in your design by shapes. I design on paper and then use these paper templates to cut out into the clay. I then hand mold the flat clay towards the shapes I need, letting them dry to leather hard before placing the two halves together and attaching them with clay slip.
